Job Summary - Supervisor, Leave Administration
Maintains accountability for the supervision of the Leave Administration team, providing direction, focus, and coaching to the team. Provides deep subject matter expertise to Leave Administration; drives initiatives and mitigates risk for Worker's compensation, leave of absence, and accommodation case management. Establishes strong healthy partnerships with Human Resources, and other strategic partners.
Essential Functions - Supervisor, Leave Administration
- Available and accessible as a deep subject matter expert in ADA, multiple leave types, Executive and Physician leave programs, Fitness for Duty, Return to work/Re-entry programs, workers` compensation, USERRA, and OSHA. Manages all aspects of the Restricted Work, Return to Work, Re-Entry, ADA and FFD program and practices within Corewell Health.
- Assists the manager in planning, leading, collaboration and representation for the day-to-day operations, meetings, calls, special projects, internal and external audits for Leave Administration. Supports, contributes, and administers multiple Leave Administration programs, and ensures compliance with Federal, State regulations and Corewell Health plans. Assists manager with payroll duties. Completes the performance snapshot and annual performance evaluation process of Leave Administration team members. Responds to inquiries from customers and stakeholders in a timely manner, providing consistent and compassionate customer service resolutions within policies and practices. This may include maintaining a case load.
- Provides support, influence, and guidance on complex problem-solving skills. Investigates, resolves, and seeks out positive resolutions on escalated or abnormal activities within a claim. Responsible for case management of executives and litigated claims in collaboration with Management, maintains up-to-date knowledge of the regulations, laws, and pertinent legal decisions to mitigate risk pertaining to all aspects of Leave Administration operations/functions and leaves.
- Manages the timing, accuracy and compliance of the Leave Administration performance score card for all team members. Conducts and analyzes ongoing performance and quality audits and performance for the Leave Administration team members. Develop and organize team schedules. Monitors performance of staff, initiating follow through with corrective action and termination when necessary.
- Responsible for training and onboarding of newly hired team members and remedial training as needed. Develops and maintains training materials for team members and leaders. Supports leaders through training and education of Leave Administration policies and practices. Provides education to Leave Administration on policy or practice changes.
- Responsible for interviewing, hiring and retaining members of leave administration team. Assures that the department is staffed with appropriate credentials and number of team members to meet customer needs. Monitors performance of staff, initiating follow through with corrective action and termination when necessary.
- Directs the activities of staff who process disability, FMLA, and workers' compensation claims, interact with claimants, management, clinical professionals and third party vendors. Ensures that proper documentation of all claims is achieved in an accurate and timely manner, and in compliance with legal landscape.
- Coaches, mentors, supervises and develops staff. Provides supervision, support and implementation of key activities. Ensures that priorities are established and changed to meet customer and organizational needs. Ensures the staff respond to requests for services, information, records and data on a timely basis and meets customer service expectations. Reviews reports and provides feedback on routine activity.
Qualifications - Supervisor, Leave Administration
- Required Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
- 5 years of relevant experience Leave Management Programs and operations; Short Term Disability, MLOA, Military, ADA, Workers` Compensation, FMLA, Long Term Disability, USERRA, EEOC, State and Federal regulations Required
- 3 years of relevant experience Advance case management for Workers' Compensation, ADA, FMLA, DLS, RTW, OSHA Required
