Cardiovascular Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)

The Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at Inova Fairfax Medical is hiring an experienced CVOR RN! We are seeking a Registered Nurse with at least two years of specialized CVOR experience to join our team. Our program has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as "High Performing" in heart bypass surgery, aortic valve surgery, and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Sign on Bonus & Relocation bonus is available for eligible candidates.

The department offers full-time & part-time positions with a variety of schedules, including day, mid, and night shifts.

Our CVOR features state-of-the-art technology, including Stryker integrated video and a Philips single-plane Hybrid OR. This dept comprises 7 operating rooms supporting all cardiac surgery services, including thoracic organ transplantation (heart and lung), mechanical circulatory support, structural heart, congenital, and advanced aortic surgery.

CVOR Registered Nurse Responsibilities:

• Performs comprehensive patient health assessments by interpreting multiple, sometimes conflicting, data sets and synthesizing their interrelationships.
• Formulates individualized plans of care based upon assessment findings and interpreting trends in patient populations to achieve best practice.
• Supports and empowers patients and families as they progress through the healthcare continuum from health promotion to end of life decisions.
• Advocates for patients' rights from the patient/family perspective and provides counsel and acts as a resource to resolve issues.
• Anticipates ethical, spiritual, and cultural needs of patients/families and assists staff in assessing patients' learning needs.

CVOR Registered Nurse Qualifications:

• Experience: Requires a minimum of 2 years of direct Cardiovascular Operating Room (OR) experience as a Registered Nurse
• Education: BSN or ADN from an accredited school of nursing. If RN has an Associate's Degree (ADN); must complete BSN within 5 years of start date
• License: Must be licensed in the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Registered Nurse.
• Certification: Basic Life Support with American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications:

• AORN's Periop 101 curriculum completion
• Scrub experience
• Level 1 trauma experience
