Inova Fairfax Hospital is looking for a dedicated Lung Navigator to join the team. This role will be full-time day shift from Monday - Friday with majority of time as a hybrid role. Occasional onsite time as needed.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Acts as a liaison to patients, families, and providers to ensure timeliness of access to care and resolution of barriers, as well as patient satisfaction with the integrated health care delivery model.
  • Coordinates a patient's plan of care which may include appointment scheduling, confirming the patient's attendance, and transportation, assisting with referral process, and answering patient questions.
  • Functions as a contact and single point of contact to internal and external community/family services for patients in need of services such as screening, diagnostic treatment, clinical research participation, support services, and follow-up/aftercare plan.
  • Assists patients and families with resolving financial, psychosocial, functional, and administrative issues by advising of options and referring them to appropriate resources.
  • Demonstrates proficiency with caseload assignment and ability to manage complex cases effectively utilizing Respiratory Therapy background to provide patient care and resources specific to pulmonary disease and conditions.
  • Participates in the patient tumor conferences and multi-disciplinary meetings, coordinate with professional staff as requested.
  • Discusses payer criteria and issues on a case-by-case basis with clinical staff and follows up to resolve problems with payors as needed.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

  • Licensure - Licensed Respiratory Therapist Upon Start Possession of a license from the Commonwealth of Virginia as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Experience - 5 years of progressive clinical experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Certification - Basic Life Support from AHA Upon Start, Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT); Bachelors Degree OR an advanced credential (ACCS, NPS, RPFT, CPFT or SDS); In addition, must possess one of the following: two Advance Certifications (ACLS, PALS and NRP) or one specialized certification (AEC, COPD, SCC, etc) or a relevant bachelor's degree.
  • Education - Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy; Graduate of a Respiratory accredited CoARC (The Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) program; Must complete Pulmonary Disease Educator Course through the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC) within 1 year of hire into job.
