Company Description

Summary: Manages and directs all warehouses, shipping, receiving, stores, and material-handling operations supporting production and customer delivery. Accountable for inventory accuracy, material flow, regulatory compliance, and workforce performance across multiple functional areas. Leads continuous-improvement initiatives, establishes operational controls, and partners cross-functionally with Production Control, Quality, Scheduling, and Supply Chain to ensure uninterrupted production, cost control, and on-time delivery.

Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Under general supervision, must be able to perform a variety of job duties including, but not limited to:

  • Owns end-to-end responsibility for Shipping, Receiving, Stores, and Material Handling functions, ensuring alignment with production schedules, customer requirements, and regulatory obligations.
  • Plans staffing, schedules, and labor deployment based on production demand, backlog, and business priorities; adjusts resources proactively to meet service levels and cost targets.
  • Establishes and enforces standard work, departmental procedures, and internal controls to ensure consistent execution and audit readiness.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, integrity, and control of physical and system inventory, including raw materials, WIP, sub-assemblies, and finished goods.
  • Ensure shop orders are released and processed in accordance with dispatch priorities (PC 1235) and production requirements.
  • Oversees issuance and receipt of materials to and from the shop floor, maintaining full traceability and compliance with quality and customer requirements.
  • Manages material shortages, back orders, and shelf-life expirations; coordinates corrective actions with Scheduling, Purchasing, and Production Control.
  • Leads and executes cycle counts and annual physical inventories, driving root-cause analysis and corrective actions to meet inventory-accuracy targets.
  • Ensures all inbound and outbound materials are processed accurately, timely, and in full compliance with ITAR, customer requirements, and company policies.
  • Maintains accountability for packaging, labeling, documentation, and export controls.
  • Resolves receiving discrepancies, damage claims, and documentation issues promptly and thoroughly.
  • Directly manages department personnel, including hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, discipline, and succession planning.
  • Establishes clear expectations, provides coaching and feedback, and conducts performance reviews in alignment with company policies and labor agreements.
  • Fosters a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement while ensuring compliance with classifications, wage structures, and contractual requirements.
  • Defines, tracks, and reports departmental KPIs (inventory accuracy, on-time shipment, labor efficiency, shortages, and cycle count performance).
  • Drives Lean, 5S, and process-improvement initiatives to reduce waste, improve material flow, and increase productivity.
  • Owns departmental safety, housekeeping, and regulatory compliance; investigates incidents and implements corrective actions.
  • Partners with Production Control on termination claims, including disposition, storage, and documentation of terminated inventory.

Required Skills:

  • Language: Ability to communicate in English (verbally and written) effectively with all levels of employees within the company.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, & percentages.
  • Other Abilities: Must have knowledge of MRP, MAPICS Manufacturing software. Must have knowledge of MS Excel spreadsheet software and MS Word word processing software. Must be well versed in the use and applications of MRP/ERP systems involving materials systems, source of supply purchasing policies and procedures, supplier capabilities and system performance and improvement. Must have broad knowledge in area of general manufacturing techniques in order to direct production planning, materials handling and information systems. Must be able to select, develop and motivate supervisory and associate personnel, directing their efforts to perform at expected levels of proficiency. Heavy emphasis on material throughput, department loading, customer schedule, records maintenance and inventory reduction. Major support activities with Contract, Marketing, Engineering and Quality. APICS certification a plus.
Qualifications

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; And Or Combination10 years' experience in metal fabrication, purchasing, materials management positions preferably in a manufacturing oraerospace environment.
  • Minimum 5 (five) years of progressively responsible experience in inventory control, warehouse operations, or materials management within a manufacturing or aerospace environment, including demonstrated people-management responsibility.
  • Strong working knowledge of production control systems, inventory transactions, and manufacturing processes in a precision sheet-metal or regulated industry.
  • Demonstrated experience managing KPIs, compliance (ITAR/export controls), and cross-functional operational issues.

Annual Target Salary = $115K
