Job Overview

The Cardiac Sonographer Senior performs clinical echocardiographic studies for congenital heart disease on patients ranging from neonate to adult. Assists the laboratory with complex cardiovascular malformations and technically advanced cases. The Cardiac Sonographer Senior has obtained a high level of proficiency, competency and knowledge in the field of pediatric echocardiography; provides instruction and orientation of new employees, physicians, fellows, students and preceptees; possesses high level cardiac ultrasound theory and techniques; experienced in the field of cardiology, comprehension of anatomy and physiology, with specific experience in pediatric cardiac ultrasound.

Eligible Incentives: $20,000 Sign-On Bonus + relocation assistance available for eligible candidates.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following essential functions. These examples do not include all of the functions which the employee may be expected to perform.

1. Independently perform echocardiograms on patients from neonates to adults across the Children's Hospital Colorado (CHCO) system of care, following established protocols to evaluate congenital heart disease.
2. Create accurate preliminary reports, complete required measurements, and promptly alert physicians to critical findings.
3. Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, families, and staff. Provide age-appropriate care by preparing patients for procedures and ensuring comfort and understanding.
4. Uphold CHCO's standards of behavior, foster positive relationships, and provide excellent service to patients and families.
5. Assist cardiologists with procedures within scope of practice, using appropriate disinfection techniques and procedural protocols.
6. Demonstrate flexibility in scheduling, including variable shifts, locations, call requirements, and weekends.
7. Manage patient flow efficiently, triage urgent cases appropriately, and maintain awareness of time and workload.
8. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, reporting malfunctions promptly for repair.
9. Use EMR and PACS systems proficiently for documentation and reporting.
10. Follow departmental protocols and escalate concerns related to non-compliance or safety.
11. Adhere to QA/QC and safety standards, including those required by The Joint Commission, IAC, and state regulations.
12. Maintain required training, certifications, and credentialing, including those needed for assigned community partner facilities. Attend mandatory meetings and complete assigned education.
13. Train and mentor cardiology fellows, students, sonographers, and other learners as assigned.
14. Assist with advanced imaging techniques such as stress echocardiography, 3D imaging, ultrasound-enhancing agents, and research protocols.
15. Coordinate or support projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Associates degree and/or graduate of a formal sonography program and/or completion of registry qualifications is required.
Experience: Three years of pediatric cardiac sonography experience.
Equivalency: Two (2) years of pediatric cardiac sonography experience may be considered in lieu of an associate degree or formal sonography program, provided the candidate meets registry eligibility requirements.
Certification(s):
* Pediatric Echocardiography Registry required;
o Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer, Pediatric Echocardiography (RDCS, PE) through ARDMS or
o Registered Congenital Cardiac Sonographer (RCCS) through CCI
* BLS/CPR from the American Heart Association with at least 6 months left before expiration is required upon hire

Salary Information
Pay is dependent on applicant's relevant experience. Hourly Range: $42.27 to $63.41. Eligible Incentives: $20,000 Sign-On Bonus + relocation assistance available for eligible candidates.
