Wisconsin Public Media (WPM), a division of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, is seeking an individual to join our team as the Facilities Planning Manager. This full-time position offers a unique opportunity to apply your facilities-related technical expertise, strategic thinking, and leadership skills in support of public media operations across the state. The Facilities Planning Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting statewide media services, PBS Wisconsin and Wisconsin Public Radio. Reporting to the Director of Facilities and working within the Director's Office, this individual will collaborate with WPM leadership, staff, and statewide partners to plan, coordinate, and implement facilities-related initiatives. The role requires a blend of technical proficiency, project management acumen, administrative know-how and interpersonal skill to navigate complex challenges and deliver impactful solutions. The well-qualified candidate for WPM's Facilities Planning Manager position will demonstrate strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across diverse teams. A typical day might likely include use of a wide variety of skills including: strategic thinking and leadership to facilitate planning across business units; creating options and implementing pragmatic solutions to complex problems; systematically organizing records using various software tools; or accurately estimating costs to inform capital projects. Proven project management experience, especially in construction and facilities, will serve the selected candidate well. Familiarity with site planning, architectural design, building systems (including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and safety), and ADA compliance is valuable. This is a full-time, 40-hour per week position. This position is Ongoing/Renewable. This position will primarily be on site with the option of being hybrid, with an expectation of a minimum of 4 days per week in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location headquartered in Madison, WI. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location. In addition, some limited amount of travel to statewide locations may be necessary. The final schedule can be discussed in the offer stage, but fully remote candidates will not be accepted. Remote work requires an approved flexible work agreement (FWA). An FWA requires successful candidates to possess their own high-speed internet and phone to perform the work on a university provided computer. Per University policy, transportation between home and assigned work location is not payable/reimbursable and will be at the expense of the employee. Primarily work a standard work schedule from 8:00 am - 5:00 pm onsite at Vilas Communication Hall on the UW-Madison campus; open to discussing some flexibilities with respect to work schedule and up to one day remote work per week. This position may require responsiveness and the ability to address urgent needs that arise outside of standard business hours. It is expected that employees will make individual arrangements for transportation adequate to meet position responsibilities and essential job functions. Actual pay will depend on experience and qualifications.
