Software Engineering Intern (Summer 2026)

Location: McLean, VA (Hybrid)
Duration: June 15, 2026 - August 21, 2026
Pay Rate: $25/hour


Role Summary:

Exiger is seeking a curious, collaborative, and technically driven Software Engineering Intern to join our Product Engineering team for Summer 2026. Reporting to experienced engineering leaders and paired with a dedicated mentor, this intern will work on real product initiatives across the full software development lifecycle, contributing to scalable, high-quality solutions used by customers around the world.

This is a full-time, paid internship designed to provide meaningful, hands-on experience in enterprise SaaS engineering. The role is based in McLean, VA and follows a hybrid schedule with regular in-office collaboration.



What You'll Do:

As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work closely with engineers, product managers, and designers to deliver meaningful product enhancements:




  • Contribute across the full software development lifecycle, including planning, design, development, testing, and deployment



  • Analyze requirements, workflows, and technical challenges to design effective, maintainable solutions



  • Write clean, efficient, scalable, and reusable code following best practices and engineering standards



  • Design, build, debug, and enhance new and existing application components



  • Participate in code reviews and maintain high standards for code quality and documentation



  • Collaborate within an Agile development environment, iterating quickly and incorporating feedback



  • Stay current on emerging technologies and apply them thoughtfully to assigned projects




Engineering interns will select from a set of defined projects with clear success criteria, aligned to their skill level and development goals.



What You Bring:


  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field



  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think logically and creatively



  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-based environment with strong communication skills



  • Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work through ambiguity



  • Ability to adapt to changing requirements and priorities



  • Familiarity with Agile development methodologies



  • Experience or coursework involving:




    • Java and SQL



    • JavaScript and modern frameworks



    • Object-oriented design principles



    • Unit testing and software quality practices





  • Exposure to machine learning or data-intensive systems is a plus



  • Self-taught engineers with demonstrably strong skills are encouraged to apply

This is a hybrid position based in McLean, VA. The pay rate is $25.00 /hour.
