Our Enterprise Collaboration, AI, and Web Services (ECAWS) Team provides web application and collaboration solutions in support of the Laboratory's technical mission and its day-to-day operations. These solutions include intranet and collaboration tools, document management systems (such as SharePoint), and web application development. ECAWS supports the external website, Atlassian tools (Confluence and Jira), eForms, and enterprise search. The team also enables others to create Drupal websites, designs user experiences, and develops websites both internally and externally (for conferences). ECAWS provides application integration with web services for many existing and new business applications. Additionally, ECAWS integrates new technology capabilities, such as generative artificial intelligence (AI), enabling Laboratory personnel to be more effective and efficient.


Job Description

As a Web Application Developer Co-op, the student will support the development and enhancement of web-based applications and services. Working alongside experienced developers and designers, the co-op will contribute to real-world projects that support enterprise users and external stakeholders.


Seeking a qualified co-op candidate to support the ECAWS Team between June - December 2026.


Responsibilities



  • Assist with the design, development, and maintenance of web applications
  • Contribute to front-end and/or back-end development efforts
  • Support web-based enterprise platforms and integrations using web services
  • Participate in testing, debugging, and code reviews
  • Assist with documentation and technical support as needed
  • Collaborate with team members to deliver secure, reliable, and user-focused solutions


Qualifications



  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Web Development, or a related field
  • Interest in web application development and enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with web technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript; experience with frameworks or server-side development a plus
  • Understanding of basic software development principles and version control concepts
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, mission-driven environment


This co-op position provides hands-on experience developing enterprise-scale web applications in support of a nationally significant research mission, offering exposure to modern development practices within a structured, professional environment.

Compensation for 2025 (will be reviewed for 2026)



  • Technical Co-Op: $24.50 - $31.00 per hour (based on year in school)
  • Administrative Co-Op: $21.50 - $25.00 per hour (based on year in school)



Selected candidate will be subject to a pre-employment background investigation and must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret level DoD security clearance.
