Job Summary

Senior Construction Project Manager - Healthcare Position Summary

The Senior Construction Project Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering complex healthcare construction projects from concept through close-out. This role oversees new construction, renovations, and infrastructure upgrades within active healthcare environments, ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and in full compliance with healthcare regulations, safety standards, and organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead all phases of healthcare construction projects, including programming, design coordination, procurement, construction, commissioning, and close-out

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects of varying size and complexity within operational healthcare facilities

  • Serve as the primary owner's representative, coordinating with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders

  • Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, cash flow forecasts, and risk mitigation plans

  • Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and standards, including FGI Guidelines, Joint Commission requirements, OSHPD (as applicable), local/state building codes, and infection control protocols

  • Oversee contractor performance, change orders, pay applications, and contract administration

  • Collaborate with clinical, facilities, IT, and operations teams to minimize disruption to patient care

  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, quality, safety, and adherence to approved plans and specifications

  • Identify and resolve project issues proactively, escalating risks as needed

  • Lead project meetings and provide clear, concise reporting to executive leadership

  • Support strategic planning, capital planning, and long-range facilities development initiatives

  • Mentor junior project managers and contribute to process improvement and best practices

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • 8-12+ years of construction project management experience, with significant experience in healthcare facilities

  • Proven track record managing projects in active hospital or clinical environments

  • Strong knowledge of healthcare codes, regulations, and industry standards

  • Experience managing budgets ranging from mid-size renovations to large capital projects

  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera, or similar)

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Ability to make sound decisions under pressure and manage competing priorities

Preferred Qualifications
  • Professional certifications such as PMP, CCM, or LEED

  • Experience working directly for a healthcare system or hospital owner

  • Familiarity with design-build and IPD delivery models

  • Experience with OSHPD/HCAI projects (if applicable by region)
