Responsibilities

Summary:

This entry level position performs routine manufacturing of blood components in our CLIA regulated Component Lab to create lifesaving products that are used by patients in need. This includes processing whole blood to create red blood cells and plasma products, processing apheresis red blood cells, special blood products and application of final product labels. All work processes are performed and documented according to standard operating procedures (SOPs) and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and within the guidelines of accrediting organizations (FDA, AABB, Green Cross, CLIA, etc.).

Schedule 2nd Shift:

Monday - Thursday: 2:00pm - 10:30pm, Friday: 11:00am - 7:30pm, rotating Saturdays & occasional Sundays and Holidays

Job Responsibilities:

Component Laboratory Technician I responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

    Receiving all blood collections in Component Lab
  • Processing whole blood with inline filter or sterilely connected filter
  • Obtaining QC samples from blood products
  • Labeling Red Blood Cells, Apheresis, Platelets and Plasma products
  • Performing equipment maintenance activities

When performing testing this position must:

  • Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results
  • Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient specimens
  • Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed
  • Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor
  • Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications

The hourly rate for this position is $19.80-$21.30/hr. (including applicable shift differentials)

Education

High school diploma or equivalent

Physical

Must be able to stand and walk most of the shift

Lift 50lbs

Hand/eye coordination, visual acuity

Preferred

Bachelor's or Associate degree

Laboratory manufacturing experience using cGMP
