The Industry Solutions Engineering (ISE) team is a global engineering organization that works directly with customers looking toleveragethe latest technologies to address their toughest challenges.

We work closely with our customers' engineers to jointly develop code for cloud-based solutions that can accelerate their organization.We work in collaboration with Microsoft product teams, partners, and open-source communities to empower our customers to do more with the cloud.We develop solutions side-by-side with our customers through collaborative innovation to solve their challenges. This work involves the development ofbroadly applicable, high-impact solution patterns and open-source software assets that contribute to the Microsoft platform.

We are hiring a Principal Software Engineer with deep experience andexpertisein designing and delivering solutions using modern software engineering practices and cloud technologies. You willbe part ofa cross-functional teamof software engineers, data scientists, technical program managers, and designerswhowork side-by-side with high-impact and strategic customers and their engineers to build innovative solutions.

Responsibilities
  • Partners withappropriate stakeholderstodetermineuser requirements for a set of scenarios.

  • Leadsidentification of dependencies and the development of design documents for a product, application, service, or platform.

  • Leads by example andmentorsothers to produce extensible and maintainable code used across products.

  • Leverages subject-matterexpertiseof cross-product features withappropriate stakeholders(e.g., project managers) to drive multiplegroup'sproject plans, release plans, and work items.

  • Holds accountability as a Designated Responsible Individual (DRI), mentoring engineers across products/solutions, working on-call tomonitorsystem/product/service for degradation, downtime, or interruptions.

  • Proactively seeks new knowledge and adapts tonew trends, technical solutions, and patterns that will improve the availability, reliability, efficiency, observability, and performance of products while also driving consistency in monitoring and operations at scale and shares knowledge with other engineers.

  • Embodies ourcultureandvalues



Qualifications

Required/minimum qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Additional or preferred qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 12+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $139,900 - $274,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $188,000 - $304,200 per year.
