Location: Moody Outpatient Center 5th Floor
Must attach a resume and school transcript to be considered for the position. Primary Purpose Works in designated area with the goal of learning a particular job so employee is qualified to apply for the job once the internship is complete. This internship opportunity is designed for non-clinical experience and will not have direct patient care. MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS Education - Junior or Senior in High School and at least 16 years old. Seniors may be hired up to 60 days after date of high school graduation. - Must maintain at least a 3.0 Grade Point Average (GPA), must attach school transcript. Experience - None Certification/Registration/Licensure - None Skills or Special Abilities - Must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with all levels of internal and external personnel. - Must be computer literate with a working knowledge of word-processing software. - Must have good time management and organizational skills. Additional Work Requirements: - Students will be required to participate in all educational programs and community activities related to the program. These activities are in addition to the regular working hours. - Work area will be limited to the department assigned. - Students working in areas declared hazardous by the Department of Labor must be at least 18 years old. Responsibilities 1. Responsible for a variety of routine transport, delivery, and clerical tasks throughout Hospital. 2. Maintains a positive working relationship and effective communication with other employees to promote teamwork and cooperation. 3. Performs typing and answers phones as needed. 4. Works on special projects as requested. Job Accountabilities 1. Identifies ways to improve work processes and improve customer satisfaction. Makes recommendations to supervisor, implements, and monitors results as appropriate in support of the overall goals of the department and Parkland. 2. Stays abreast of the latest developments, advancements, and trends in the field by attending seminars/workshops, reading professional journals, actively participating in professional organizations, and/or maintaining certification or licensure. Integrates knowledge gained into current work practices. 3. Maintains knowledge of applicable rules, regulations, policies, laws and guidelines that impact the area. Develops effective internal controls designed to promote adherence with applicable laws, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state, and private health plans.
