Job Summary

Southeast Road Builders is seeking experienced and skilled CDL Drivers in Prince of Wales, Alaska to support field operations across our civil construction and earthwork projects. This role is critical to the successful execution of work and involves operating a variety of onhighway and offroad commercial vehicles.

Drivers will work closely with field crews to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and industry best practices.

Main Responsibilities
  • Safely and efficiently operate commercial motor vehicles and off-road articulated trucks in support of earthwork and civil construction activities
  • Operate 10-yard dump trucks, semi-trucks pulling side, end, and belly dumps, equipment trailers, and articulated off-road trucks
  • Perform required pre-shift inspections, including checks of lights, brakes, fuel, oil, water, and other critical components
  • Maintain a basic working knowledge of equipment mechanics and hydraulics to ensure proper operation and identify potential issues
  • Operate equipment according to industry best practices to promote jobsite safety, production efficiency, and equipment longevity
  • Maintain equipment in good working condition, including proper care and housekeeping
  • Safely load, secure, and transport materials in compliance with applicable regulatory requirements
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, crew members, and other project personnel to coordinate work activities
  • Ensure all work complies with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support project needs
Driver Requirements
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL)
  • Hazmat endorsement preferred
  • Minimum of two (2) years of commercial driving experience or 3,500 hours of equivalent work experience
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • Demonstrated commitment to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Valid driver's license with the ability to maintain a clean driving record
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to pass a drug screening and a Physical Abilities Test (PAT).
  • Ability to exert 20-50 pounds of force occasionally, 10-25 pounds frequently, or up to 10 pounds constantly.
  • Frequent exposure to loud noise.
  • Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles.
