Pipefitter A

GENERAL FUNCTION: The pipefitter lays out, installs and maintains vessels' piping systems, such as heat and power, hot water, hydraulic, air pressure and oil lines.

REQUIREMENTS:

Must have 3 years of pipe fitter experience.

Must be able to read production drawings, spool / detail drawings.

Must be able to work solo installing spools, valves, pipe hangers, etc.

Must be able to install piping to the company's piping standards.

Must be able to self-inspect your work to sell to the company's piping standards.

Must be able to tack weld. Stick and tig.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities:

Follows blueprints and uses hand tools and shop machines.

Cuts and bores holes in bulkheads and decks for installation of pipes.

Cuts and threads pipe and pipefittings.

Connects pipes to fixtures and test systems for leaks, ensuring that the system meets specifications.

Works with a tacker/helper to perform precision work and solve problems.

Be able to perceive pertinent detail in objects or blueprints.

DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES: Knowledge of blueprints and drawings.

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE & TRAINING: Prior experience, as a pipefitter is preferred, capable of operating a cutting torch and tack welding.
