Position Overview

The Personnel Security Specialist (PSS) - Adjudications supports personnel security processing in support of DHS Federal Protective Service (FPS), Personnel Security Division (PSD). This role supports the suitability process by ensuring documentation is complete, case materials are properly tracked, and investigative actions are initiated and maintained in accordance with program requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Initiate background investigations
• Manage receipt of security documents submitted by contractor applicants
• Conduct fingerprinting procedures
• Verify the appropriate level of background investigation is requested and ensure all documents required for suitability processing are complete and included in the case file
• Prepare, submit, monitor, and update computer tracking systems related to case material
• Apply incident management, problem-solving, and task performance skills
• Participate in special projects as assigned
• Perform additional duties as needed

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience
• Relevant experience includes work within one or more security and/or intelligence fields such as technical, physical, information, industrial, personnel, and operational security
• Subject matter expertise and hands-on experience in one or more security and/or intelligence disciplines, including experience implementing complex government security and/or intelligence programs and policies, is preferred
• Must be highly organized with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
• Familiarity with ISMS, eQIP, CVS, and/or DISS is preferred but not required
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance
