Purpose: The Value Stream Manager plans, directs and manages the production and engineering of assigned areas of responsibility to ensure safe and efficient operations that satisfy customer requirements. He/she meets budget goals and objectives as well as OEE objectives. As a member of the plant leadership team he/she is responsible for plant continuous improvement efforts in areas of safety, quality and value. The VSM individually and as a member of the leadership team has considerable impact on delivering good quality product to the customers when they are needed and for the plant's operating performance to meet budget. Responsibilities: Providing a safe and healthful workplace ensuring environmental compliance, adherence to plant, departmental and corporate policies and procedures as well as compliance with local, state and federal guidelines to minimize injuries and health concerns to employees. * Analyzing manufacturing methods and processes and determining best solutions to problems, initiating needed changes to provide for continuous improvement and meet or exceed budgeted costs. * Promoting employee involvement and fostering teamwork through effective communication and recognition to create an atmosphere of mutual trust and commitment to team goals. * Managing resources through planning, direction and assignment in order to maximize efficiency in the most strategic and cost effective way to ensure consistently strong levels of performance in meeting plant, customer and quality requirements. * Ensures a continual focus on shrinkage loss, line downtime, pattern change duration, expense spending, labor costs, overtime, sample performance, extra costs of rework, new part startup costs, customer PPMs and area's safety performance. The incumbent strives for a proactive environment for doing it right the first time. * Working closely with the Plant Manager and other department heads on matters related to plant operations and interacts formally and informally with production supervisors and other hourly/salaried employees to achieve goals. * Assisting in setting aggressive performance targets and challenging associates to consistently meet or exceed such goals. * Supervising and directing the activities of associates such as deciding appropriate training, work direction and guidance to ensure that specific performance standards are consistently met. Requirements: * The ability to create a cohesive team environment through leadership, coaching and performance management to deliver the expected results * Minimum 5 years of experience managing a diverse workforce.in a manufacturing environment. Previous experience as a first line supervisor is also required. * Experience in automotive glass fabrication technology * Experience with and education in Lean Six Sigma principals * Business knowledge of how the use of key process indicators (KPIs) drive results * Strong interpersonal skills * Strong problem-solving skills * Experience successfully managing a 24/7 or multi-shift factory operation * Required computer skills include experience with Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook.
