Role Overview:

The Manager, Finance & Strategic Operations role is a newly created position designed to support Visterra's continued organic and inorganic growth, as well as the ongoing professionalization of the platform. This role is highly hands-on, particularly in the early stages, and will require direct ownership of financial models, reporting, and analysis before a broader team is built.

This role will be a core strategic partner to leadership, responsible for building and owning the company's financial planning, performance management, and strategic operations infrastructure. This role sits at the center of decision-making - translating data into insight, strategy into execution, and complexity into clarity.

The primary focus of the role is ownership of cash flow, budgeting, forecasting, and weekly/monthly reporting cadence, including the full buildout of models, templates, and KPIs that drive accountability and decision-making across the business. In parallel, this role will play a key role in shaping and executing strategic operations initiatives, including the development and scaling of select company operations and other high-impact strategic initiatives.

Over time, the role will have the opportunity to build and manage a team of analysts as the organization continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, enhance, and own the company's budgeting and forecasting framework, including model design and ongoing reporting of KPIs and performance trends
  • Partner closely with regional and branch leadership to understand operating performance, financial trends, and forward-looking risks and opportunities
  • Serve as a strategic thought partner to leadership by translating forecasts and KPIs into actionable insights and recommendations
  • Lead analytical efforts related to expanding service lines, evaluating investments, and supporting other strategic and operational initiatives
  • Act as the primary finance and strategy liaison for regional and branch leaders across budgeting, investment, and operational decision-making
  • Build and lead a team of analysts to support forecasting, reporting, and key strategic initiatives across corporate and regional operations

Requirements:

  • Hands-on operator with a strong understanding of financials and investment theory, and the ability to communicate effectively with field-based and operational leaders
  • Thrives in a fast-moving, PE-backed environment and enjoys building structure while the business scales
  • Comfortable operating with a high degree of autonomy; able to identify opportunities, form opinions, and bring forward thoughtful recommendations without heavy direction
  • Demonstrated ability to design, iterate, and improve financial and operational infrastructure from the ground up
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, with working knowledge of Power BI; curiosity and creativity in leveraging tools, automation, and new technologies to improve efficiency and insight

Benefits:

Visterra offers a challenging and rewarding working environment where employees are encouraged to develop and grow as professionals. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work on projects that will expand your experience and challenge your abilities in the global marketplace.
