Position Summary The Color Technician is responsible for managing Inpro's color program, including standard and custom colors, supplier coordination, and color quality systems. This role plays a critical part in reducing color variation, scrap, rework, and customer complaints by maintaining color standards, supporting production, and driving corrective actions when needed. Key Responsibilities
Develop and approve color matches by working closely with suppliers, providing materials and specifications, evaluating samples, and implementing approved colors.
Process custom color requests and support color-related projects.
Maintain color software standards, spectrophotometer calibration, and visual color masters.
Perform random audits and checks to ensure color conformance and support production efficiency.
Train employees on color principles, color equipment, and quality system requirements, including conducting Munsell Hue evaluations.
Investigate and resolve internal quality issues and customer complaints related to color.
Process Material Reject Records for color rejections, including evaluation, disposition, feedback, and follow-up actions for both internal and supplier-related issues.
Serve as a liaison with suppliers on color corrections, improvements, and development projects.
Collect, analyze, and review color data to support ongoing improvements.
Complete additional tasks or projects as assigned to support quality system improvements and plant objectives.
Qualifications & Skills
Experience in plastic manufacturing and color program management preferred.
Ability to achieve and maintain an above-average Munsell Hue test classification.
Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
Professional demeanor when working with internal teams, suppliers, and customers.
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and company software applications.
Commitment to safety and adherence to all safety protocols.
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Authority & Decision-Making
Authority to stop production due to nonconforming product.
Direct extrusion and injection molding operators on quality and color-related activities.
Accept or reject color from suppliers and internal production.
Hold or disposition rejected product according to established procedures.
Reporting & Collaboration
Reports directly to the Quality & EHS Manager.
Works closely with IPC production teams, Supervisors, Leads, Product Management, Product Development, Purchasing, Inside Sales, Customer Service, and suppliers.
Tools & Equipment
Spectrophotometer and common inspection gauging equipment.
Computer, Microsoft Office, and internal software applications.
