Yard Jockey (Class A)

The yard jockey is responsible for the timely movement of trailers to facilitate the needs of the warehouse in loading shipments.

Compensation

Starting Rate: $25/hr

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

Driving Company Performance

• Stages trailers in a safe manner during numerous moves to load and unload trailers for scheduled deliveries.
• Starts refrigeration units; checks units periodically.
• Maneuvers trailers in and out of tight spaces.
• Pulls loaded trailers away from dock and secures trailer doors
• Coordinates loading schedules with warehouse supervisors.
• Assists warehouse dock workers with loading and unloading trailers.
• Operates powered industrial equipment such as forklifts, clamp trucks, etc. as necessary.
• Shuttles trucks to and from loading docks as necessary.
• Performs routine pre and post trip inspections to ensure that mechanical, safety and emergency equipment is in good working order.
• Properly secure and strap heavy loads for travels
• Performs other duties as necessary and required.

Employee Management & Development

• Injury and Illness prevention (proper lifting techniques, PPE)
• Demonstrates proficiency in Forklift operating.
• Annual Driving Safety course
• Trailer controls
• Walk-Around Inspection
• Backing and Docking

Qualifications

Work Experience

Required

• 1 year of driving experience

Preferred

• Heavy & Tractor-Trailer Driver preferred

Education

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Class A license

Technical Knowledge

Additional Skills/Notes

Required

• Valid medical card
• Musty have a clean MVR
• Forklift Ability
• Ability to lift and move up to 60 lbs.

Preferred

• Forklift certification preferred
