Overview

The Industrial Security Specialist supports the Nakupuna Companies' Industrial Security Program by assisting with the day-to-day administration of personnel, facility, and information security requirements. This role provides direct support to the Facility Security Officer (FSO) and Security Team while servicing multiple operating companies under the Nakupuna Companies umbrella.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with DCSA systems, strong knowledge of the National Industrial Security Program Operating Manual (NISPOM), and the ability to manage multiple security actions in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.



Responsibilities

The following reflects management's definition of essential functions for this job but does not restrict the tasks that may be assigned.

Personnel Security Support

    Conduct personnel security clearance verifications and status checks.
  • Support security actions related to employee onboarding, transfers, and separations across all Nakupuna Companies.
  • Prepare, submit, and track Visit Authorization Requests (VARs), including termination VARs, using Sign In Compliance, DISS, and NBIS.
  • Maintain and update personnel security access levels and eligibility records in designated systems of record.
  • Review SF-86 and associated investigation documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance prior to submission.
  • Coordinate fingerprint submissions and uploads through Fieldprint and SWFT.

Compliance, Audits, and Inspections

  • Assist with routine audits of personnel security files and electronic systems to ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support audits and maintenance of security policies, procedures, and program documentation.
  • Provide administrative and documentation support for DCSA self-inspections and assessments.
  • Track findings, corrective actions, and remediation efforts related to inspections and audits.

Security Program Administration

  • Monitor, triage, and respond to daily security-related emails and helpdesk requests.
  • Assist with foreign travel reporting, pre-travel briefings, and post-travel debriefings as required.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, clients, and government security representatives.
  • Provide customer-service-oriented security support to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Perform other security-related duties as assigned in support of the Industrial Security Program.


Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a self-starter, requiring minimal supervision while maintaining accuracy and compliance.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent task changes and time-sensitive requirements.
  • Strong independent research skills, including the ability to interpret and apply NISPOM, SEAD guidance, and DoD security policy.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and logical reasoning skills, with the ability to resolve complex personnel and industrial security issues.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Working knowledge of 32 CFR Part 117 (NISPOM) and SEAD 3 personnel security requirements.
  • Experience using DCSA and DoD security systems, including but not limited to:
    • Defense Information Security System (DISS)
    • National Background Investigation Services (NBIS)
    • National Industrial Security System (NISS)
    • Secure Web Fingerprint Transmission (SWFT)
    • NCAISS, eApp, and related systems
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Must possess a DCSA FSO Program Management Certificate for Possessing Facilities.
  • Minimum of Five (5) years of experience supporting or performing Facility Security Officer (FSO) duties.
  • Demonstrated familiarity with DoD security regulations, manuals, and guidance.
  • Experience with ThreatSwitch and/or Sign In Compliance preferred.
  • Prior client-facing security support experience preferred.

Clearance Requirement:

  • Active DoD security clearance at the Secret access level with the ability to obtain and maintain Top Secret level access.

Physical Requirements: The ideal candidate must at a minimum be able to meet the following physical requirements of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation:
