Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Quality Assurance (QA) Engineer to provide contractor support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Crane. The QA Engineer will play a key role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and compliance of products, systems, and services developed or supported by NSWC Crane. This position requires strong analytical abilities, technical competency, and experience supporting Department of Defense (DoD) programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain QA processes, procedures, and standards aligned with NSWC Crane's mission and applicable DoD/industry standards.
  • Perform inspections, audits, and quality evaluations on hardware, software, components, and systems to ensure compliance with specifications, drawings, and contract requirements.
  • Create and maintain QA documentation including test plans, inspection records, audit findings, deficiency reports, and risk assessments. Provide clear, actionable recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Identify quality gaps and inefficiencies; collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and logistics teams to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support system testing, verification, and validation activities. Ensure test procedures are followed and results are properly documented.
  • Assist with configuration control, record maintenance, and version tracking for systems under test or evaluation.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant military standards (MIL-STDs), ISO quality frameworks, and NSWC Crane internal quality processes.
  • Work closely with government engineers, program managers, logistics personnel, and other stakeholders to support project milestones and readiness criteria.
Requirements
  • Experience supporting DoD, Navy, or federal engineering programs.
  • Strong understanding of quality assurance principles, methodologies, and tools.
  • Familiarity with relevant military and industry standards (e.g., MIL-STD-883, MIL-STD-810, ISO 9001, AS9100).
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits, or quality assessments for hardware or software systems.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a government clearance.
  • MUST be a US Citizen.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Will consider applicants with technical degrees who have QA experience.
