As a Security Operations Engineer, you will play a pivotal role improving security within Microsoft. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the safety and integrity of some of the world's most critical assets. Your focus will be on establishing the strategy and implementation of key initiatives related to endpoint security.

• Understand and investigate emerging endpoint related security risks and recommend prioritization for defense-building capabilities.
• Contribute to the analysis of threat trends in the industry and identify potential detections and signatures for defense capabilities. Utilize technical knowledge to influence customers and partners to enhance security posture. Identify and integrate intelligence from internal and external sources into existing security solutions with minimal guidance. Maintain documentation of processes to ensure comprehensive security information.
• Contribute to the analysis of key metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and other data sources to identify trends in security issues. Participate in identifying data requirements and gaps in measurement and implements mitigation strategies to close gaps. Leverage findings to take action on priority issues. Evaluate current analytical technologies and tools with minimal guidance and share feedback within team.
• Develop and implement solutions for secure operation of business critical productivity scenarios inclusive of device permissions and client-side applications.
• Leverage technical knowledge of Entra, Intune, Defender for Endpoint, and Defender for Cloud to enhance security measures and protocols.
• Identify and raise opportunities for automation and AI-native solutions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Required/minimum qualifications:

• Master's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 1+ year(s) experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Computer Security, or related field AND 2+ years experience in software development lifecycle, large-scale computing, threat analysis or modeling, cybersecurity, vulnerability research, and/or anomaly detection
  • OR equivalent experience.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

• Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Additional or preferred qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience solving problems with a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating security risks.
• 1+ year experience of AI knowledge. Specifically theoretical and practical knowledge of LLMs, Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) pipelines and agent orchestration frameworks.
• 1+ year experience in managing identity and authentication systems or programs.
• 1+ year experience in KQL and other querying languages is preferred

Security Operations Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $100,600 - $199,000 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $131,400 - $215,400 per year.
