AI Strategy Lead

The Opportunity:

As an AI Strategy Lead, you will act as a trusted advisor to senior government leaders, guiding them through the rapidly evolving landscape of artificial intelligence. This role requires a strategic thinker who can bridge the gap between innovation and governance-translating high-level priorities into actionable strategies and roadmaps. You will help your clients to balance the adoption of cutting-edge AI technologies with risk management, ethical considerations, and compliance with procurement and regulatory policies. Your work will enable federal agencies to harness AI responsibly and effectively while navigating complex operational and policy environments.

You Have:

  • 5+ years of experience in AI, data management, or digital transformation, including leading cross-functional teams, influencing stakeholders, and persistently driving outcomes in dynamic organizational environments

  • Experiencepresenting to and advising senior federal clients on AI, data, IT, or digital transformation topics, including transforming ambiguous ideas into clear business goals, actionable plans, and strategies

  • Experience helping clients navigate the "Compliance-Innovation Paradox" to deliver impactful results in complex, shifting government and AI contexts

  • Knowledge of AI concepts, includingRAG, Agentic AI, Prompt Engineering, or Context Engineering, as well as commonly used AI applications in the federal domain, includingChatGPT, Copilot, Cursor, or Perplexity

  • Knowledge of key regulations, laws, and governance frameworks at global, federal, or state levels governing AI and data use

  • Knowledge of complex operational models of federal IT ecosystems, including IT procurement processes and Authority to Operate (ATO) procedures

  • Knowledge of principles, best practices, and common pitfalls in ethical and responsible AI use to ensure compliant and trustworthy implementations

  • Ability to establish, facilitate, and manage AI initiatives such as AI Councils and Communities of Practice across stakeholder groups

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust or Suitability/Fitness determination based on client requirements

  • Bachelor's degree

Nice If You Have:

  • Experience creating enterprise AI adoption initiatives, strategies, or roadmaps

  • Experience in AI governance and strategy within HHS or its sub-agencies

  • Experience in health sector projects involving data, AI, or IT domains

  • Master's degree in a Computer Science or IT field preferred; Doctorate degree in a Computer Science or IT field a plus

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $128,700.00 to $292,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
