About the Opportunity: The KPO Intern role is a temporary role for students pursuing an education in continuous improvement / manufacturing engineering. This role will learn while working on real-life projects, also providing administrative support. Location: Manchester, CT This position is 100% on site. Responsibilities: Under Direct Supervision: Interfaces with all functional departments and handle Continuous Improvement requests Undertakes independent projects as needed in support of department Supports Supervisors, Team Leaders and Associates in the application of the Lean principles Assists in the creation of Work Instructions, Daily Management, 6 Sigma and TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) Documents Assists in designs and fabricates equipment from Creform Tubing and other materials Assists in the completion of Kaizen Newspaper Action Items Participates in and supports Kaizen Event Participate in manufacturing engineering projects Learn manufacturing processes Assist with changing/updating manufacturing engineering documents Assist with time studies Provides administrative support May interact with other departments Adheres to all Core Values (Health and Safety, Quality, Customer Service, Development of People, Integrity, Corporate Citizenship, Continuous Improvement, Respect). Other job-related duties as assigned Required Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent 0-2 years machinist experience Must be authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future. The Company cannot offer employment to visa holders who require employer sponsorship in the future or cannot work now on a full-time basis. Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR/EAR regulations. Preferred Qualifications: Hands On, Detail Oriented. Strong Mechanical Aptitude Ability to work independently Ability to complete multiple improvement projects within a team-based environment Demonstrated ability to prioritize multiple tasks and demands to meet deadlines Able to effectively work with all levels of employees throughout the organization Maintains company values and holds self and others to the highest standards of conduct Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint Associate degree or equivalent experience Physical Demands: Light to moderate physical effort required Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds Regularly required to sit or stand, reach and move about the facility Physical Requirements: Requires mobility in a manufacturing plant environment while using Personal Protective Equipment. Must be able to frequently sit, stand and walk. Must be able to lift and carry up to 15 pounds.
