An innovative global manufacturer serving industrial and renewable energy markets is seeking a seasoned Plant General Manager to lead a brand-new transformer manufacturing facility from the ground up. This is a rare opportunity for a hands-on manufacturing leader to take full ownership of operations, people, performance, and culture while partnering closely with executive leadership and global stakeholders.

Hours & Compensation



  • Schedule: 1st Shift
  • Compensation: $250,000 annually plus a competitive bonus structure
  • Employment Type: Direct Hire


About the Role

The General Manager is accountable for the overall success of the facility, including operations, financial performance, safety, quality, and team development. This role plays a critical part in stabilizing and scaling a startup manufacturing operation while ensuring alignment with corporate strategy, global standards, and long-term growth objectives.

Daily Responsibilities



  • Lead all plant operations, including production, maintenance, engineering, quality, supply chain, and EHS.
  • Oversee facility startup, ramp-up, and transition into steady-state operations.
  • Drive on-time delivery, cost control, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
  • Champion Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, and operational excellence initiatives.
  • Develop and manage operating budgets, forecasts, and P&L performance.
  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics aligned with business objectives.
  • Foster a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with OSHA, environmental, and industry regulations.
  • Lead quality systems to achieve high customer satisfaction and minimal defects.
  • Build, mentor, and develop a high-performing leadership team.
  • Support recruiting, onboarding, training, and retention of skilled manufacturing talent.
  • Serve as a visible leader on the production floor and across the facility.
  • Collaborate with global teams, suppliers, engineering partners, and customers.
  • Represent the facility during executive reviews, customer visits, audits, and technical evaluations.
  • Travel domestically and internationally as required to support operations and partnerships.


Required Qualifications



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading a plant or major manufacturing operation.
  • Strong financial acumen with direct P&L responsibility.
  • Background in electrical equipment, transformers, power distribution, or heavy industrial manufacturing.
  • Demonstrated success in startup or high-growth manufacturing environments.
  • Results-driven leader with a strong record of meeting or exceeding operational targets.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate strategy and direction.
  • Ethical, trust-building leadership style with strong stakeholder engagement skills.


Preferred Experience



  • MBA or advanced technical degree.
  • Experience working with global or multinational teams.
  • Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement certifications.
  • Knowledge of transformer design, testing, and manufacturing processes.
