How you will make an Impact (Job Summary)

SPX is a diverse team of unique individuals who all make an impact. We are opening a new campus facility that will have two of our businesses (Marley and Ingenia Technologies) evolving and growing together at one site. As Manufacturing Engineering manager on this campus, you will play a crucial role overseeing the development and implementation of manufacturing processes for both businesses, ensuring safety, efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness while managing a team of engineers. Key to this role will be to learn in a fast past environment.

Reporting to the Senior manager of manufacturing services for the campus, this position is also responsible for process development, team management, collaboration, continuous improvement, compliance, budget management and technical support.

What you can expect in this role (Job Responsibilities)

While each day brings new opportunities to SPX, your core responsibilities will be:

* Develop and implement safe manufacturing processes to maintain efficiency, reduce cost, improve sustainability and maximize profitability

* Lead the manufacturing engineering team to execute projects in an efficient manner. This will involve direct supervision of assigned manufacturing engineers and career development of manufacturing engineers reporting into each business.

* Analyze and design lean manufacturing cells using leading operations design and simulation tools

* Manage the estimation of production costs and efficiency

* Oversee the maintenance, repair, and replacement of production and facility equipment and machinery

* Implement strategies to improve quality and productivity

* Coordinate with design engineering and manufacturing teams on industrialization of new product launch activities

* Ensure compliance with industry safety and design standards and guidelines

* Develop operational budgets and control costs within budget

* Keep abreast with latest manufacturing technologies and systems to improve processes

* Work with each business to establish a manufacturing operations excellent roadmap including topics such as I4.0.

* Establishment of production QC control plans, job safety analyses, lean design

* Capital budget of $15M; cost out targets of 5% COGS

What we are looking for (Required/Ideal Experience, Skills, Education)

We each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:

Required Experience & Skills

* At least 10 years of experience in managing manufacturing engineering role

* Proven experience as a Manufacturing Engineer or similar role.

* Experience with Solidworks software and data analysis tools.

* Excellent knowledge of manufacturing best practices and industry standards.

* Strong leadership and project management abilities.

* Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.

* Ability to communicate effectively with a variety of stakeholders.

* Attention to detail and the ability to multitask.

Ideal Experience & Skills

* Experience working within a CI environment

* Six Sigma Blackbelt

* Experience with new startups (greenfield/ brown field)

* Experience working withing a matrixed campus environment

* Experience with new machine acquisition and validation (SAT, FAT)

* Background in automated sheetmetal fabrication, welding, painting and assembly of large products

Education & Certifications

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field

* Degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred

Travel & Working Environment

* Travel will be required at times; Ingenia Headquarter located, QC Canada and Kansas City.
