Job Description

SUMMARY:

Accuray Incorporated is a radiation therapy company that develops, manufactures, sells, and supports market-changing solutions designed to deliver radiation treatments for complex and common cases, helping clinical teams provide better patient outcomes.

REPORTING TO/DEPARTMENT:

Reports to the VP, Controller in the Finance & Accounting department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the preparation and review of SEC filings (10-Q, 10-K, and Financial Earnings releases) to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Support research and documentation of technical accounting issues, including drafting supporting memos under supervision.
  • Collaborate with legal, finance, and other functions involved in the SEC filing process or requiring technical accounting assistance.
  • Coordinate with external auditors and legal counsel to gather information and support SEC filings.
  • Research and analyze complex technical accounting literature to support conclusions on accounting treatment for unique transactions, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
  • Participate in month-end and quarter-end close activities with the Accounting team.
  • Help ensure compliance with SOX controls and requirements by maintaining documentation and supporting testing.
  • Contribute to the maintenance of the accounting policy library for the finance organization.
  • Assist in preparing quarterly and annual memos on topics such as goodwill, segmentation, leasing, debt, and stock compensation.
  • Build relationships with external auditors to support technical accounting audit items.
  • Work with cross-functional teams (Finance, Legal, SOX, HR) to support business needs.
  • Identify and suggest process improvements to streamline and automate reporting and close processes.
  • Gain experience working with SAP and Active Disclosure software.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Preferred or Desired:

  • Working knowledge of SAP is a plus.
  • CPA or progress toward CPA preferred.
  • Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Active Disclosure preferred.

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; strong understanding of US GAAP.
  • 1-3 years' experience with SEC reporting in a publicly traded organization (internships or entry-level roles count).
  • Exposure to multinational company structures and currencies is a plus.
  • Basic knowledge of technical accounting and SEC filing requirements.
  • Experience preparing or supporting SEC documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and management regarding accounting issues.
  • Experience working with legal and outside auditors on filing requirements is a plus.
  • Demonstrates motivation, willingness to learn, and commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Understanding of SOX requirements in a public company environment.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • High energy; ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple tasks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
