Overview
The Building Healthy Families Program Assistant supports the implementation and delivery of the Building Healthy Families program by assisting with nutrition education, family engagement activities, data collection, and program coordination. This position plays a key role in supporting group sessions, assisting families with program materials and activities, and ensuring smooth day-to-day operations of the program. The Program Assistant works closely with the program coordinator, instructors, and community partners to create a welcoming, organized, and supportive learning environment for participating families.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with the delivery of nutrition education, family wellness lessons, and hands-on learning activities as part of the Building Healthy Families curriculum.
  • Support instructors during group sessions by preparing materials, setting up activities, and assisting participants as needed.
  • Help coordinate program logistics, including attendance tracking, distribution of materials, incentive management, and session preparation.
  • Assist with participant communication, including reminders, follow-ups, and coordination with families and community partners.
  • Support data collection and basic evaluation activities, such as surveys, attendance records, and progress tracking.
  • Maintain organized records related to program implementation, supplies, and reporting requirements.
  • Assist with outreach and recruitment efforts in collaboration with community partners and program staff.
  • Provide culturally responsive, strengths-based support to families participating in the program.


Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; coursework or training in public health, nutrition, education, human development, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience working with children, youth, families, or community groups in educational or program settings.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and in team-based environments.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to assist with data entry and record keeping.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in public health, nutrition, education, family studies, or a related field.
  • Experience with family-based or youth wellness programming.
  • Familiarity with community health education, SNAP-Ed, Extension, or similar outreach programs.
  • Bilingual skills or experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse populations.
