Job Description

The AI Center of Excellence (COE) at Rockwell Automation is seeking a self-driven Intern to contribute to the development of learning-enabled control solutions for complex, nonlinear dynamical systems. You will work closely with AI COE researchers and engineers on applying deep learning and modern control techniques to real-world industrial systems.

This internship offers hands-on exposure to state-of-the-art AI for control, bridging theory and deployment in industrial environments.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Develop and evaluate AI-driven control and system identification methods for nonlinear dynamical systems

  • Apply learning techniques to improve control performance and robustness

  • Collaborate with researchers and engineers on prototyping, experimentation, and analysis

  • Document and communicate technical findings clearly

The Essentials - You Will Have:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited college or university.

The Preferred - You Might Also Have:
  • Strong foundation in control theory and system identification (e.g., Koopman-based methods, MPC)

  • Solid understanding of machine learning and deep learning

  • Proficiency in Python

  • Experience with ML/DL frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Keras)

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills

  • Exposure to MLOps concepts and tools

  • Familiarity with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)

  • Front-end or visualization experience (e.g., React, Angular, Vue) is a plus

For this role, the Base Salary Compensation is from $22/hour - $40/hour. Our benefits for the US can be found here. Actual pay will be based on factors such as skills, knowledge, education, and experience.
