Job Description




As a Security Officer - Armed Condo Gatehouse in Fort Lauderdale, FL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Residential, and more. As an Armed Security Officer at a residential community access control post, you will greet residents and guests, verify credentials, manage visitor logs, and monitor entrances using onsite systems. You will maintain a visible presence, conduct routine patrols as assigned, respond to incidents, and write clear reports. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to residents, guests, vendors, and/or visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a residential location.
  • Control access at designated entry points by verifying resident status, checking identification when required, and managing visitor and contractor entry in accordance with site-specific policies.
  • Monitor vehicle and pedestrian traffic at gates, lobbies, and/or common-area access points, helping to maintain orderly entry and exit flow.
  • Issue and track visitor passes, keys, and/or access credentials as required by site-specific policies, and document access activity in the appropriate logs.
  • Monitor access control systems, cameras, and/or intercoms when assigned, and report irregular activity to site leadership and/or emergency services as needed.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including resident concerns, access disputes, and/or unauthorized entry attempts.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of residential common areas, amenities, parking areas, and perimeter locations, reporting maintenance concerns, lighting issues, and/or suspicious activity.
  • Complete written reports and incident documentation with clear, timely details, including access control activity, policy violations, and/or resident and visitor interactions.
  • Communicate with property management, residents, and/or emergency responders as needed to coordinate response to alarms, disturbances, and/or medical situations.
  • Support site-specific rules related to deliveries, move-ins and move-outs, and vendor access by verifying authorization and directing individuals to approved locations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 1 or more years of security-related experience.
  • Possess an Armed Guard Card and/or license.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • Being comfortable using a computer and/or tablet is preferred.
  • Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Participate in industry-specific security training programs.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
