Job Description




As a Security Officer - Utility Communications Center in Carmel, IN, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Utilities, and more. As a Dispatch Officer with Allied Universal at a utilities location, you will support day to day security-related operations by monitoring alarms and cameras, coordinating responses, documenting activity, and communicating clearly with site personnel and first responders. You will be a calm, customer focused presence who helps teams stay informed during routine activity and unexpected events. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to our clients by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Receive and dispatch calls for service, alarms, and security-related notifications, coordinating response per site procedures for a utilities location.
  • Monitor alarm panels, communications systems, and other monitoring tools, and communicate status updates to appropriate personnel using phone, radio, and/or other approved channels.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, escalating to site leadership and/or emergency services when required by procedure.
  • Document dispatch activity, incident details, and shift events in written reports and electronic logs in a timely manner.
  • Support access control operations by verifying authorization, processing visitor and contractor entries per policy, and reporting irregularities.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols around the business and perimeter. Working environments and conditions may vary by client site.
  • Assist with coordinating site notifications, work order impacts, and utility operations-related communications as directed by site-specific policy.
  • Participate in briefings, post orders review, and required training to remain familiar with site layouts, response protocols, and communications expectations.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have 3+ years' combined law enforcement, military, and/or security experience OR a college degree.
  • Be at least 21 years of age.
  • Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
  • Have customer service experience, preferred.
  • Have CPR certification, preferred, and it may be completed post hire.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
