Job Description

As an Allied Universal Officer at a busy logistics and distribution location, you will support access control by greeting drivers and associates, checking identification, managing visitor logs, and monitoring entries and exits. You will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, maintain a visible presence that helps to deter security-related incidents, and communicate clearly with site contacts. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to employees, visitors, carriers, and contractors by carrying out access control procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities at a logistics and distribution location.
  • Control access at entry points by verifying identification, checking appointment and delivery information, issuing visitor credentials, and maintaining entry and exit logs in accordance with post orders.
  • Screen and route inbound and outbound truck drivers to the correct dock, guard shack, or check-in area while following established traffic flow and yard rules.
  • Monitor cameras, alarms, access control systems, and/or other security-related technology and report irregular activity per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical events, fires, vehicle accidents, and unauthorized access attempts.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of the facility interior, exterior, and perimeter, including parking areas, trailer lots, and dock doors, documenting observations and reporting issues to site contacts.
  • Perform vehicle and trailer checks as directed, including verifying seal numbers, checking for signs of tampering, and documenting findings in required logs.
  • Complete security-related reports and shift documentation, including incident reports, access logs, patrol activity reports, and/or key control records.
  • Support loss prevention and operational continuity by observing for theft indicators, restricted area violations, and policy noncompliance, then escalating concerns through the proper chain of command.
  • Communicate with site management, dispatch, and first responders as needed, using radios, phones, and/or computer systems to relay clear, timely information.
  • Maintain professional presence and customer service while enforcing site rules for personal protective equipment, prohibited items, and restricted areas as directed by post orders.
  • Participate in drills, briefings, and required training to remain current on site procedures, emergency actions, and security-related responsibilities.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
