Description

Under the direction of the Food Service Manager, the Foodservice Worker plays a vital role in supporting the hospital's nutrition and patient care services. This position is responsible for carrying out a range of duties related to the preparation, assembly, delivery, and service of meals to patients, staff, and visitors. The Foodservice Worker ensures that all food is handled, prepared, and served in a clean, safe, and sanitary environment while strictly adhering to dietary guidelines, infection control protocols, and hospital quality standards.

Salary Range: 21.05-25.64/hr

Effective 06/22/2025, employees
represented by the AFSCME Union will receive a minimum wage of $25.

Qualifications

  • Able to read and write standard English.
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Must have knowledge of basic culinary techniques and procedures inclusive of basic recipes and equipment use.
  • Ability to work in a standing, kneeling, or squatting position for extended periods; bend, stretch, walk, stoop, and reach repetitively.
  • Ability to work in various environments, including hot, cold, and/or wet areas.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds, push or pull carts or equipment weighing up to 350 pounds.
  • Ability to adhere to uniform or dress code standards.
  • Ability to work in a non-smoking environment.
  • Ability to follow safety procedures and guidelines for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Must maintain good personal hygiene and a clean, professional appearance.
  • Ability to adjust to fluctuating workload demands and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with co-workers, supervisors, and other staff members in a respectful and cooperative manner.
