Job Description




As a Security Officer - Shopping Center Patrol Driver in Joliet, IL, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Retail/Malls, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer in a busy retail location, you will conduct routine vehicle and foot patrols, stay highly visible to help reduce security-related incidents, and support guests and staff with clear communication and customer service. This is a driving post and requires a valid driver's license. You will represent Allied Universal's agile, reliable, and innovative approach while delivering through teamwork and acting with integrity.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to clients and store associates by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including disputes, medical situations, and alarms.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols throughout retail sales floors, stock areas, exterior entrances, and parking areas; working environments and conditions may vary by location.
  • Monitor entrances, exits, and high-traffic areas to help to deter theft, loitering, and other unwanted activity, and report concerns to store management and/or Allied Universal leadership.
  • Observe for suspicious behavior and policy violations, gather information, and promptly notify the appropriate contacts.
  • Complete security-related reports and incident documentation with clear, accurate details and timely updates.
  • Assist with access control activities such as checking doors, monitoring delivery areas, and guiding visitors and/or contractors to the appropriate check-in process.
  • Provide directions and general assistance to customers, including helping with lost and found inquiries and responding to customer concerns in a professional manner.
  • Use communication devices and site systems as assigned to relay information, coordinate responses, and request support when needed.
  • Support closing and opening procedures as directed, including interior and exterior patrols and verifying key areas are secured per site policy.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
  • Customer service experience is preferred.
  • A state, county, or city issued security license is preferred.
  • Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
