Job Description




As a Security Officer - ER Foot Patrol in Durham, NC, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Healthcare, and more. As an unarmed Patrol Officer in a healthcare location, you will conduct routine patrols of assigned areas, stay highly visible to help discourage security-related incidents, and support staff, patients, and visitors with professional customer service. You will observe and report unusual activity, communicate clearly with your team, and respond to concerns with integrity and calm. What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to staff, patients, and visitors by carrying out security-related procedures, site-specific policies, and when appropriate, emergency response activities within a healthcare location.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including medical facility disturbances, visitor concerns, and policy violations.
  • Conduct regular and random patrols of interior areas, parking areas, entrances, and the perimeter to help to deter unauthorized activity and/or access.
  • Monitor access points, assist with visitor directions, and help support a respectful environment by addressing questions and concerns professionally.
  • Observe and report suspicious activity, hazardous conditions, and maintenance issues to the appropriate parties following site protocols.
  • Complete required documentation such as incident reports, shift logs, and patrol activity reports with accurate, timely details.
  • Coordinate with site leadership and/or local emergency responders during incidents, providing information and assistance as directed.
  • Follow post orders for patient privacy considerations and handle sensitive information in a professional manner while performing assigned duties.
  • Use communication equipment and/or security-related systems as required, including radios, phones, and access control procedures.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Be at least 21+ years of age.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
