Job Description




As a Security Officer - Federal Lobby Desk in Houston, TX, you will serve and safeguard clients in a range of industries such as Government, and more. As a Front Desk Officer with Allied Universal at a government location, you will be the first point of contact, greeting visitors, managing access, and verifying credentials while maintaining clear logs and professional communication. You will help to deter security-related concerns by staying visible, responding to questions, and coordinating with site personnel. You will bring integrity and a people-first mindset to a role powered by teamwork, reliability, agility, and innovation.

What You'll Do:

  • Provide customer service to visitors, employees, and contractors at a government location by following post orders, site-specific policies, and access control procedures.
  • Staff the front desk in a professional, service-focused manner while helping to deter unauthorized access through check-in protocols, visitor identification review, and credential verification.
  • Monitor lobby activity, CCTV, alarms, radios, and other security-related systems and/or communications, reporting unusual conditions per site procedures.
  • Respond to incidents and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, including coordinating with on-site staff and/or public emergency services as directed by post orders.
  • Issue visitor badges and manage visitor logs, keys, and other controlled items per site policy, maintaining accurate documentation and chain-of-custody records.
  • Screen and direct visitors to the appropriate departments, assisting with wayfinding and maintaining orderly lobby operations consistent with facility rules.
  • Complete shift reports and incident documentation, including notifications to supervision and/or client representatives as required.
  • Support emergency response activities at the front desk, such as initiating notifications, controlling access points, and assisting with accountability procedures per site plan.
  • Perform administrative front desk tasks tied to security-related operations, such as answering phones, routing calls, and handling deliveries per facility requirements.

Minimum Requirements:

  • - Have at least 6+ months of security experience.
  • - CPR and/or First Aid certification is preferred and may be completed post hire.
  • - Be comfortable using a computer or tablet, preferred.
  • - X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
  • - Customer service experience is preferred.
  • - Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
  • - Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
  • - Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
  • - As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
  • - Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
  • - A valid driver's license will be required for driving positions only.
  • Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
