Salary: The previously determined range for this position was $90,985.44/yr to $186,511.82/yr*. The final rate offered will be determined by the collective bargaining agreement, internal salary equity, candidate experience and qualifications, and budget constraints. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a rate at or near the top of the full range for a position.

This position requires Illinois residency within 180 days of the hire date.

Position Summary
The Administrative Nurse III (Nurse Manager) is accountable and responsible for providing oversight of the department day to day operations. The Nurse Manager participates in evaluative research, teaching, prioritizing patient needs, and providing leadership with resource utilization. The Nurse Manager serves as a resource for physicians, nursing and support services. The Nurse Manager identifies strategies to monitor and evaluate resource management decisions, process improvement and quality initiatives in the department. The Nurse Manager relates effectively with department team members for high quality delivery of services and maintains high quality relations with other departments and nursing units. The Nurse Manager participates in all mandatory education requirements, maintenance of records and updating of policies, procedures and skills of personnel in the department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Responsible for assisting the department director in ongoing evaluation of best practice, staff competencies, and implementation of best practice measures to ensure delivery of quality patient care. Participates in department HR processes.
  • Plans for effective administration in each unit and, in consultation with medical staff, for improved patient care.
  • Establishing regular communication processes with physicians, nurses and management to review current status, variances, resolutions, and programs as needed.
  • Maintains general supervision of the care given to patients and of nursing activities within the unit.
  • Participates in the process improvement of nursing systems and supports continuous regulatory readiness for the department.
  • Plans for and participates in the training and development of assigned nursing personnel and implementing quality indicators.
  • Collaborates with hospital leadership in the management of house wide patient flow and capacity.
  • Keeps the nursing service administration informed of the needs of the nursing units and of any special problems.
  • Inspects physical facilities for orderliness, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Evaluates performance of nursing personnel and counsels them as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • **This ANIII schedule is Monday through Friday from 3pm to 11:30pm with one weekend per month onsite. When a weekend is worked, two compensatory days off will be provided during the workweek.**
  • Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.


  • Minimum Qualifications

    1. Licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse in Illinois with the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation, Division of Professional Regulation.
      1. Three (3) years of professional nursing experience.
      2. OR
      3. Two (2) years of professional nursing experience and one year of related advanced education.
    2. Current AHA BLS/CPR and other required unit specific certifications
    3. Effective communication skills (oral and written) that facilitate therapeutic relationships between patients, family, and health care providers
    4. Intermediate computer skills with the ability to become proficient in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) with on-the-job training
    5. Excellent attendance, interpersonal skills and work history required.


    Preferred Qualifications
    • Minimum of five (5) years' clinical experience preffered, preferably in an academic health care setting.
    • Minimum of three (3) years' experience in nursing leadership/management preferred.
    • Master's Degree preferred in Nursing, Hospital Administration, Public Health, or Business.
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to lead and manage change.
