The Category Manager will define, lead, and implement procurement strategies for assigned packaging categories, including but not limited to cartons, labels, desiccants, tubing, glass, and bags. The role will manage the assigned packaging portfolio, ensuring all local activities are conducted in alignment with the Category Strategy and Global Procurement Roadmap. In addition, the Category Manager will provide procurement support and added value to operations at the site and regional levels and facilitate local packaging procurement activities. Position Responsibilities:
Define and communicate procurement strategies in accordance with the Companies priorities on the following categories (but not limited to) : card boxes, labels, desiccants, tubing, glass, bags... Drive the implementation across the Company, worldwide. Lead major negotiations : pricing & contracts with suppliers to secure the business Monitor and manage suppliers performance through regular reviews to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and sites needs Build supplier relationships through frequent and impactful communication Support the execution of cost saving initiatives by identifying and promoting opportunities. Master Categories in terms of cost modeling, benchmarks, market trends for the Products offering. Launch Sourcing and Request For Quotation (RFQ) for new business and/or to challenge the existing business. Secure the business by launching suppliers & products securization projects. Manage quality compliance for procurement (suppliers qualification, Suppliers Steering Committee, Audits, ...) Support Procurement Roadmap deployment: CSR, digitalization, Continuous Improvement, Innovation,... Perform all work in compliance with company quality procedures and standards. Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree, Procurement or Purchasing preferred
- 5+ years of procurement, category manager, buyer, or purchasing experience
- Experience in Purchasing/Procurement, preferably in an industrial environment and/or on the Health/Biotech sector preferred
- Experience in packaging or technical purchasing preferred

Travel: Domestic: 30%, International: 5%
The estimated salary range for this role based in North Carolina is between $89,000 - $128,700. This role is eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and individual performance per bioMerieux's bonus program. This range may differ from ranges offered for similar positions elsewhere in the country given differences in cost of living. Actual compensation within this range is determined based on the successful candidate's experience and will be presented in writing at the time of the offer.
