WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

The Engagement Specialist is responsible for assisting with the implementation and execution of programs, projects and initiatives to increase and strengthen the engagement of volunteers. Additionally, assist with the screenings, referrals, and placement of prospective volunteers to effectively support regional goals and mission critical activities. This role is not eligible for relocation assistance.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

1. Subject matter expertise and regional resources for volunteer engagement best practices including youth programs and Red Cross Clubs.

2. Assist in ensuring all prospective volunteers are screened and referred to departments for interviews.

3. Assist internal partners with ensuring they have a comprehensive volunteer engagement onboarding program.

4. Responsible for managing volunteer recognition program and events across the region.

5. Assist internal partners with the development and execution of their department recognition programs.

6. Support the Regional Event Based Volunteer plan.

7. Provide support to the Regional Volunteer Services Officer or Sr. Engagement Specialist by:
* Help implement strategies and tactics to improve volunteer engagement.
* Assist with the development and implementation of a volunteer engagement/retention strategy.
* Provide reporting and metric analysis support.
* Assist in monitoring and reviewing volunteer satisfaction data with departments to develop strategies to improve volunteer satisfaction.

8. Support Volunteer Services' regional training plan, which includes in-person and online volunteer courses.

9. Manage regional volunteer communications, including newsletter and emails.

10. Ensure assigned volunteers are trained, receive ongoing support, and foster a rewarding environment to maximize engagement.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of related education and experience required.

Experience: Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience implementing and advancing staff related programs. Knowledge of volunteer programs and policies preferred.
Management Experience: N/A
Travel: Ability to travel to field offices and events.

Physical Requirements: Physical requirements are those present in normal office environment conditions. Operational flexibility is required to meet sudden and unpredictable needs. Ability to use a personal computer, applicable software, and office equipment for sustained periods of time. May include sitting for long periods of time, driving a vehicle, and working under challenging conditions.

Skills & Abilities:

* Recruiting experience or the ability to effectively communicate and represent Red Cross mission and activities in a positive and realistic manner is preferred.
* Other Skills: Intermediate proficiency with MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
