As Quality Director, North America you are a senior quality professional accountable for defining, deploying, and continuously improving the Quality Strategy, Quality Management System (QMS), governance, and quality culture across North America manufacturing and supply chain operations.

You will collaborate across multi-sites to manage quality performance across the United States and Canada, and ensure robust compliance with internal standards, customer requirements, and applicable regulatory expectations. As Quality Director you will serve as the senior authority for quality-related risk management, audit readiness, incident management, and capability building to protect customers, safeguard the business, and enable operational excellence.

Core Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy, Governance & Operating Model

Lead and implement the North America Quality Strategy by establishing consistent governance, KPIs, roles, and accountability across all sites, managing risk and audits, and ensuring clear communication and reporting of quality performance.

QMS Ownership & Standardization Across the Network

Own the design, deployment, and continuous improvement of quality management systems across North American sites, ensuring effective nonconformance, CAPA, document/change control, product release, data integrity, and audit processes, while harmonizing Heritage Solenis and Heritage Diversey standards into a unified NA Quality framework.

Operational Excellence Through Quality Leadership

Drive quality into daily operations by partnering with plant and operations leaders to embed ownership at the line/shift level, implementing a continuous improvement model with root-cause problem-solving, standard work for recurring issues, quality loss reduction, and championing Lean/Six Sigma methods to enhance site performance.

Customer Protection, Product Integrity & Incident Management

Serve as the senior escalation partner for customer-impacting quality events and critical incidents, guiding processes for complaints, field failures, product integrity, incident response, and customer communications, while supporting teams in risk identification and mitigation with thoughtful, balanced judgment.

Compliance, Audit Readiness & Certifications

Ensure compliance across North America with internal standards, customer requirements, and regulatory expectations, acting as the senior quality authority for audits and supporting ongoing site certification governance, corrective action completion, and system maturity.

Laboratory Governance & Technical Rigor

Partner with plant managers and site quality managers to ensure lab governance, technical quality, data integrity, and analytical rigor, setting clear expectations for calibration, method validation, COA compliance, and investigation of testing deviations.

Supplier / External Manufacturing / Third Party Quality

Establish expectations and accountability for quality performance across suppliers, tollers, third-party manufacturers, labs, and logistics providers, partnering with Procurement and Supply Chain to implement audits, scorecards, corrective actions, risk-based controls, and materials governance.

Integration & Scalability for Acquisitions

Front quality integration for acquisitions by assessing, stabilizing, and harmonizing processes, aligning governance, building capabilities, and ensuring new sites are fully integrated into QMS, training, and audit readiness.

Training, Culture & Capability Development

Own the North America Supply Chain Quality and Technical training strategy, building capacity through standard work, problem-solving discipline, and structured coaching, while championing a visible Quality Culture that prioritizes customer protection and compliance.

Leadership & People Management

Lead and develop direct reports, building a strong succession pipeline, recruiting and retaining high-performing leaders, and driving consistent performance management and organizational capability. You will ensure consistent quality standards, investigation rigor, and customer protection, while driving capability building, coaching, succession planning, and establishing standard ways of working for complaints, investigations, root-cause analysis, and CAPA effectiveness.

Qualifications & Experience

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Microbiology, Pharmacy, Food Science, or related discipline (Master's preferred).
  • 12+ years progressive experience in Quality within manufacturing / industrial environments.
  • Proven multi-site Quality experience; skilled in matrix leadership and influencing through collaboration and guidance.
  • Deep experience in:
    • Quality systems and compliance
    • Audits (customer, third-party, internal)
    • CAPA governance and investigation management
    • Quality metrics, dashboards, and performance systems
    • Operational continuous improvement
  • Demonstrated ability to build culture and sustain disciplined execution across multiple sites.
  • Strategic Systems Thinker: Designs scalable governance, standards, metrics, and operating models across multiple sites and acquisitions, supporting teams in consistent and effective execution.
  • Incident & Quality Management: Provides calm, structured, and supportive guidance during customer-impacting events, fostering accountability and effective resolution.
  • Customer Advocate & Builder Mindset: Advocates a quality culture that protects customers and the business, while enabling collaboration, standardizing processes, and integrating diverse operating cultures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence across all levels and functions. Understanding realities on the floor to guide sustainable improvements.

Preferred

  • ASQ certification (CQE, CQA) or equivalent.
  • Elutia Quality Director
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or equivalent.
  • Experience in PE-backed environment with strong performance expectations (pace, decisiveness, accountability).
  • Supplier quality experience including audits/scorecards and external partner compliance.

The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in quality systems and compliance with collaborative, people-oriented leadership, able to operate as both strategic architect and hands-on change partner in a matrixed environment. This role must unify, align, and elevate quality expectations across Heritage Solenis, Heritage Diversey, and future acquisitions while fostering standardization, disciplined execution, and "right-first-time" performance across the network.

This role will ideally be based in Wilmington, DE. However we are open to other locations around our larger sites, Florence KY, Suffolk VA, or OH.
