Position Summary

The Operation Engineer II is an intermediate level opportunity on our Facility Operations team. In this role, you will ensure MultiCare patients and families have the best possible experience when visiting facilities across our health system.

Responsibilities

  • You will oversee the safe and efficient operations of the gas and electric boilers, HVAC, air compressors, pumps, emergency generators, and other auxiliary equipment

  • You will oversee the safe and efficient operations of the hospital's infrastructure, ensuring maintaining all regulatory compliance

  • You will monitor and assign work orders to ensure timely completion.

  • You will perform tasks pertaining to the boiler room and steam distribution system

  • You will perform rounds and inspections of machine rooms and roof areas

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent preferred

  • May require a City of Tacoma Engineer License II (or obtain license within 90 days of hire) depending on location

  • Accomplished in steam, HVAC, and basic electrical related to plant operations and maintenance

  • Minimum four (4) years of experience directly related to operations and maintenance of building mechanical and electrical systems

  • Computer and EMCS experience preferred

  • Valid Washington State driver's license and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MHS Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state

Additional Requirements for Allenmore Hospital Include:

  • Washington State Department of Ecology, UST Class A/B Certification

  • Medical gas ASSE6040 certification

  • Minimum five (5) years of experience operating in a lead/supervisory capacity

Additional Requirements for Mary Bridge Children's Hospital Include:

Completion of Vocational Trade/Tech certification program or Certificate of Licensure in the identified areasMedical gas ASSE 6040 certification after hire

ASHE Certified Health Care Physical Environment Worker required within 6 months of hireOn Call Required

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $54.70 - $54.70 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant's years of experience align.
