Carpenter Foreman - Commercial Construction
Atlanta, GA Anning-Johnson Company is looking for an experienced Carpenter Foreman to lead commercial drywall and carpentry crews in the Atlanta market. This is a hands-on field leadership position responsible for safety, manpower, layout, production, quality, and coordination with our project team and other trades.
Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise commercial drywall/carpentry crews to safely complete work on schedule and to Anning-Johnson's quality standards.
- Plan daily and weekly manpower, work activities, material needs, equipment, and production goals.
- Perform and oversee layout from drawings, plans, and field conditions.
- Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and project details.
- Direct installation of metal stud framing, drywall, exterior framing/sheathing, acoustical ceilings, and other related commercial interior systems.
- Conduct daily jobsite and work-area inspections to identify safety, quality, access, material, or production issues.
- Coordinate work with the Superintendent, Project Manager, General Contractor, and other trades to keep the project moving efficiently.
- Monitor crew productivity and project progress and make adjustments when necessary to maintain the schedule.
- Ensure work is completed according to project specifications, applicable building codes, and company quality standards.
- Enforce company and jobsite safety requirements and conduct daily safety planning with the crew.
- Train, mentor, and develop carpenters and apprentices while setting clear expectations for safety, quality, attendance, and productivity.
- Maintain accurate daily reports, including manpower, hours worked, work completed, material usage, and jobsite conditions.
- Identify potential problems, changes in scope, or field conditions and communicate them promptly to project leadership.
- Maintain a professional and productive jobsite and work effectively with employees, customers, and other trades.
Qualifications
- 5-7 years of commercial construction experience, including experience as a Carpenter Foreman, Drywall Foreman, or similar field leadership position.
- Strong experience with commercial drywall, metal stud framing, exterior framing/sheathing, and acoustical ceilings.
- Strong layout skills and ability to read and work from construction drawings, specifications, and details.
- Demonstrated ability to lead crews, plan manpower, manage production, and meet project schedules.
- Strong understanding of commercial construction safety practices and jobsite requirements.
- OSHA 30 preferred.
- Experience working in a union construction environment preferred.
- Comfortable using tablets and construction-related software for drawings, daily reports, timekeeping, and project communication.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with Project Managers, Superintendents, General Contractors, and other trades.
- Ability to perform the physical requirements associated with commercial construction and field supervision.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel to project locations throughout the Atlanta market.

Wages range from $28.00 to $40.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
