Job Title: DESIGN ENGINEER - EMISSION CONTROL (EC)

Business Unit: DRiV Aftermarket Emission Control Product Engineering

Shift: 1st

Reports To: Steve Clayton



SUMMARY:

The DRiV Design Engineer is responsible for supporting product engineers with New Product Introduction (NPI) 3D CAD designs and 2D print detailing, design projects associated with Product Line simplification and manufacturing efficiency initiatives, and product innovation / renovation projects. The design engineer will also be challenged with providing input on continuous improvement for the overall design workflow and process.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Aftermarket Design Engineer is responsible for the support of the DRiV engineering organization. This work may include:



  • Support individual NPI development projects and coordinate activities with product engineers


  • Utilize Catia V5, Teamcenter, and Oracle forms databases to support engineering product design and release.
  • Redesigning existing products to help achieve material cost savings and improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Support existing product design changes for product renovation initiatives
  • Help support future innovation / renovation initiatives
  • Engage with team on ideas for continuous improvement in the overall engineering and design process
  • Learn & become very knowledgeable on manufacturing capabilities and standard materials used in EC products



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:



  1. Degree in engineering (preferred) or technical field
  2. 2-5 years (or more) of experience in product development, 3D CAD modeling and 2D print detailing preferably using Catia V5 design software.
  3. Experience in design of automotive EC components and products preferred.
  4. Strong knowledge of manufacturing engineering principles, practices, and processes.
  5. Strong written and oral communications skills to include presentation skills.
  6. Interpersonal skills necessary to exchange information with all levels of employees and groups.
  7. Knowledge of GD&T, PPAP, APQP, SPC, and failure analysis a plus
  8. Analytical trouble shooting and problem solving.
  9. Excellent computer skills to include knowledge of MS Office, SAP, Catia or other CAD software.
  10. Analytical abilities necessary to plan and prioritize own work, complete work on schedule and maintain required records and logs.
  11. Ability to communicate (written and verbally) in English

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Primarily work 4 days in office and 1 day remotely to support product engineering team
