Export Controls Analyst
Steptoe LLP's International Trade and Regulatory Compliance practice is seeking an Export Controls Analyst to join our busy and growing team. The analyst will work closely with attorneys and other professionals on a variety of U.S. export controls matters, with a focus on technical classification and compliance projects under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and Export Administration Regulations (EAR).

Essential Functions
* Conduct export control jurisdiction and classification analyses under ITAR and EAR.
* Support attorneys in preparing commodity jurisdiction and commodity classification requests.
* Assist in the preparation and review of export licenses, agreements, and related compliance documentation.
* Research and analyze U.S. export control laws, regulations, and guidance.
* Maintain and update internal tools, templates, and resources for export compliance work.
* Coordinate with clients, including defense contractors and other regulated industries, to gather technical data and compliance information.
* Support ongoing compliance monitoring and risk assessment projects.

Non-Essential Functions
* Perform other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualification
* Bachelor's degree required; technical, engineering, or international affairs background preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience working with ITAR and EAR in a corporate, government, or consulting environment (defense industry experience strongly preferred).
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
* Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

* Must be available to work beyond regular hours if/when necessary.
* Must be able to comply with all safety requirements in our workplace (if applicable).

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $60,000. The actual base salary offered will be dependent upon the applicant's experience and qualifications, as well as other job-related factors, including but not limited to, relevant skills, education, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, geographic location.
