Overview The Nexus Water Group team has an opportunity for a Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Specialist. This position assesses workplace activities on safety, safety standards execution, safety inspections, safety training and ensuring compliance by all employees and (sub) contractors within Nexus Water Group. These actions will help to continuously minimize safety incidents and meet or exceed local, state, and federal requirements. Work Location and Schedule This position is located in Altamonte Springs, FL. Some travel may be required within service area. What You'll Do
- Conducts field inspections and audits throughout SWS locations to ensure conformance with established occupational health, safety and environment regulations. Evaluates personal protective equipment (PPE), work procedures, and training effectiveness of facility personnel.
- Implements and evaluates programs and procedures needed to meet regulatory requirements and to attain safety goals and objectives; assists management and supervisory staff with the development and implementation of effective and efficient strategies
- Tailors accident prevention and occupational health control measures and programs for assigned sites; assists in the preparation of specific activity guidelines, regulations, and master plans for occupational health and safety.
- Assists operations staff in completing necessary training, site specific safety requirements and is available as a general resource to the field team on a daily basis.
- Works with business groups to help implement and monitor programs, policies and procedures to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal workplace safety laws and regulations, as well as Nexus internal program requirements.
- Works with all facilities under SWS to ensure safe working conditions and interacts with the team members and management to reinforce Nexus HSE programs coaching/mentoring on issues as well as encouraging positive workplace attitudes. Promotes a positive safety culture.
- Coordinates with HSE Manager in facilitating Facility Safety Inspections and incident investigations; ensures compliance with safety policies and procedures; assists in the development of accident prevention and safety programs.
- Works independently and in partnership with the HSE and local management teams to organize and implement initiatives.
- Performs confidential administrative functions including written correspondence, reports, spreadsheets and other documents. Assist in research and development of documents.
- Tracks and monitors all internal HSE statistics through KPIs to identify program deficiencies and coordinate efforts for improvement with HSE and business group management.
- Performs other related duties as required
What You'll Bring Experience
- 3 years field experience in safety and construction
Education and Licenses
- High school diploma required;
- Valid driver's license.
Nice to Have
- associates in HSE related field preferred
- OSHA 30 preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of OSHA regulations
- Strong communication skills, including public speaking.
- Excellent planning and organizational skills and ability to work efficiently and effectively without direct supervision.
- Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner and gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
- Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Work Environment
