The Department of Transportation's (DOT) Office of Special Events is seeking a Community Associate to support citywide permitting operations through data management, mapping, and interagency support functions. Under general supervision, the selected candidate will maintain, validate, and manage event-related data across agency systems; create and review maps, routes, and geospatial visualizations to support conflict analysis, construction awareness, and public safety planning; and ensure accuracy and consistency for permitted activities, including public events, film shoots, block parties, and construction work. Responsibilities include maintaining the NYC Event Permitting System and the Special Events Stipulations database through daily data entry and quality assurance, creating, updating, and issuing permit stipulations in accordance with established guidelines processing and maintaining office databases.

Minimum Qualifications

Qualification Requirements
1. High school graduation or equivalent and three years of experience in community work or community centered activities in an area related to duties described above; or
2. Education and/or experience which is equivalent to "1" above.

Preferred Skills

The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, familiarity with mapping tools and databases, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-visibility operational environment. Preference will be given to candidate who is proficient with data entry, and experienced in telephone and written responses to constituent inquiries.

Residency Requirement

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County. To determine if the residency requirement applies to you, please discuss with the agency representative at the time of interview.
