Intern Engineering

Position Summary

Provide support for existing products through design support, customer ATR reviews, component sourcing evaluations, support for product specific testing and validation requirements, and or work as defined by lead Engineer to support key development programs.

Responsibilities

Main Job Responsibilities :

Thorough guidance of junior and senior engineers, support FCD engineering projects by designing and validating components withing the scope of capabilities of the student. Additionally, the engineer intern will,

• Assist junior and senior engineers with prototype build process following internal engineering standards.
• Participate in design reviews of valves or regulators, processes, and production and assembly tools.
• Assist manufacturing engineering colleagues and assembly operators.
• Assist with Engineering Change Requests and Engineering Change Orders - ECRs and ECOs.
• Participate in Kaizen events.
• CAD-model legacy components
• Evaluation and Root-cause investigation of prototype assemblies exposed to field service.

Projects :

• Valves and regulator development for various markets.

Goals :

Align engineering course work to "real-world" applications. Understand the relationship between theory and how to correlate to practical problem solving.

• Further expand upon Engineering principles as learned within current college courses
• Gain "hands-on" experience by utilizing engineering equipment to help validate design work
• Understand relationships between what is created in CAD vs what is physically machined
• Assemble prototypes from machined components and identify concerns and/or issues with assembly.
• Ensure Design intent aligns with product specifications as required by various customers, internal or external.

Outcomes / Results :

• Better understand the relationships between college course work and real-world engineering.
• Ensure student is more prepared as he / she enters the workforce after college.
• Provide FCD with additional support to facilitate completion of projects and other business-related activities.

Qualifications

• Preferred Junior or Senior at an accredited college, pursuing an Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering technology, or similar.

  
  
• Able to work in teams, follow directions, and attention to detail.
• Proficient with CAD software, preferably Autodesk Inventor.

• Pay Range: $14.85/hr to $24.75/hr
• No benefit plan eligibility
