Primary Purpose:
In this role as Product Portfolio Specialist, you will be responsible for the day-to-day management of a portfolio of products. This position plays a key in role executing the various business strategies crafted by the Product Portfolio Manager. Product Specialists are responsible for coordinating activities across functions to benefit the product line, maximize profitability through sales price/cost management, and support the development of supplier relationships through proactive communication and excellent document stewardship. The Product Specialist ensures flawless product setup, pricing accuracy, and crossfunctional execution while developing the analytical, commercial, and supplierfacing skills that are essential for future supplier facing roles.
What You'll Do:
Maintain daily business operations of product line as it relates to:
Price, cost administration:
  • Facilitate/Execute cost, price updates and strategies within internal systems
  • Negotiate exception-based cost or pricing with supplier
  • Implement and communicate pricing strategy to the sales team as directed by the Product Managers
  • Primary contact for all pricing questions or issues from sales organization
Product Information Maintenance
  • Facilitate one-off document requests with suppliers
  • Support effort to maintain accurate, complete document library in STAX (product collateral system)
  • Support Change Management process via submission, management of tasks related to product change items (package change, manufacturing location change, etc)
  • Support accurate competitive intelligence through work in XRM data: Competitive producers, sample strategy, etc
  • Ensuring all necessary documents are collected and organized within our systems accordingly to ensure data can transfer to Ingredient Point
New Product Setup
  • Support New Product Line Launches and new SKU creation. Includes gathering appropriate documentation, information capture within relevant systems & project manages process.
Supplier Relationship
  • Maintain close supplier relationships with frequent, proactive, and professional communication to supplier representatives
  • Develop or maintain supplier reports as needed (import reports, forecasts, pipeline reports)
  • Participate in periodic supplier meetings
  • Supplier Portal (ChemPoint Connect) data management - ensure relevant data is visible, accurate, up-to-date; work with technology team to prioritize features/attributes
Inventory Management and Market Research & Preliminary Analysis
  • Actively monitor and work with sales team on resolution options for expired material
  • Periodic forecasting evaluations
  • Facilitate expedite requests (inbound shipments), execute product allocations (in the case of qualified demand)
  • Execute industry research (import reports, business journals, etc) and analyze data to identify trends
  • Pull XRM consumption reports, etc. to highlight shifts in customer behavior, market conditions, etc
What You'll Need:
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or scientific subject area from an accredited university preferred.
  • At least 3-5 of years sales or purchasing experience in chemicals or related industry
  • Management skills and leadership qualities
  • Experience coordinating across many functions to gain alignment and influence execution
  • Able to manage multiple projects with high levels of detail at once
  • Projects a professional and positive image both inside and outside of the company
  • Problem-solving and negotiation ability
  • Strong presentation, written and verbal communication and active listening skills
  • Consultative selling skills
  • Knowledge of pricing and marketing strategies
  • Thorough knowledge of ChemPoint internal processes and functions of internal teams, IT applications, products, value-added services and industries served
  • Strong PC skills required, database experience
  • Comfortable using business tools like Teams, PowerPoint to aid in Supplier presentations
  • Comfortable engaging Suppliers face to face, on the phone or in a web meeting as appropriate

This is a hybrid role in Bellevue, WA or The Woodlands, TX

Pay and Benefits:

  • The salary range for this position is $80,308 - $104,990 annually.
  • The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, training, certifications, qualifications, and work location.
