Position Summary

The primary responsibility of this position is to support the Global Machine Shop in rapid response for short deadlines of manufactured products. Provides technical support to manufacturing to ensure safe execution of work that meets engineering, quality, and productivity objectives. This position will focus on:

  • Review (and resolution) of Engineering Drawings for fabrications and assemblies.
  • Design tooling, jigs, and fixtures necessary for efficient assembly of components.
  • Standard Work and work processes in manufacturing.

LOCATION:

Requires daily onsite attendance; this is not a remote-work position.


Duties And Responsibilities
  • Engineering Drawings:
    • Review engineering drawings to insure manufacturability of fabrications and assemblies
    • Liaise with engineering to resolve issues with engineering documentation such as, missing parts on BOMs, wrong parts on BOMs, incomplete, or unclear drawings
    • Participate in product design reviews and new material evaluation
  • Design tooling, jigs, and fixtures:
    • Design tooling jigs, and fixtures as needed to support safe efficient work
      • Work with sourcing and/or machine shop to procure
      • Write work instructions and train employees on proper use of fixtures, etc.
  • Standard Work:
    • Review and approve ECO/ECR's within PLM to insure proper workflow.
    • Document Standard Work procedures.
    • Ensure standard work implemented properly.
    • Perform time and motion studies. Correct/update routers as necessary.
    • Identify improvements to improve safety and productivity.
  • Other Responsibilities:
    • Assist with implementation of lean manufacturing principles across assigned work areas including 6S, Standard Work, QDIP boards, Visual management, Value stream mapping, benchmarking, Total Preventative Maintenance, Work cell design, inventory flow, and other Operational Excellence objectives.
    • Demonstrate and teach company policies on operating standards, safety, maintenance, quality, and cost control.
    • Review ECR, ECO, NCR, B.O.M, drawings to ensure design for manufacturability.
    • Lead Cost Improvement activities throughout assigned work areas.
    • Maintain good working relations, coordinate/ integrate with shop personnel, write reports.

Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • Minimum five years manufacturing experience with large, fabricated components.
  • Minimum three years of experience with machine, fabrication and assembly shop operations.
  • Minimum three years of experience with ERP systems.
  • Minimum three years of experience GD&T standards.
  • Minimum one year of experience with either AutoCAD or Solid Works.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret complex drawings.
  • Use standard Office software such as Microsoft: Word, Excel, and Power Point.

DESIRED:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent education and experience, BS Degree in Engineering or technical machining degree preferred.
  • Enovia, PeopleSoft and AutoCAD skills.
  • Ten years manufacturing experience with large fabricated components.
  • Training or hands-on experience in Operational Excellence fundamentals including 6S, Standard Work, Visual Management.
