Mount Holly, North Carolina, USA Clariant is currently looking for a Technical Manager to support the Care Chemicals Business Unit. The Technical Manager is responsible for leading site-wide reliability, maintenance, engineering, and process improvement activities at the Mt. Holly, NC manufacturing site. This role ensures safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations while driving asset reliability, capital project execution, and continuous improvement aligned with business unit performance, sustainability objectives, and Clariant operational standards. Responsibilities
- Lead reliability, maintenance, and engineering activities to ensure safe, compliant, and cost-effective operation of complex chemical production assets supporting Care Chemicals BU objectives
- Manage maintenance planning, scheduling, and execution, including team performance, contractor oversight, spare parts strategy, and budget control
- Establish and sustain reliability engineering programs, including preventive and predictive maintenance, bad actor management, and execution efficiency metrics
- Ensure high reliability and functionality of E&I equipment and automation systems (DCS, SIS, PLC), troubleshooting complex process and control system issues
- Lead process improvement initiatives to drive continuous improvement, cost reduction, and long-term operational excellence
- Scope, justify, and execute engineering and CAPEX projects from concept through start-up, ensuring delivery on safety, schedule, and budget commitments
- Balance day-to-day maintenance demands with long-term strategic projects to advance site and BU objectives
- Develop, coach, and manage direct and indirect reports, addressing performance and personnel challenges while building trust and technical capability
- Collaborate across site, regional, and global teams; participate in maintenance, engineering, and technology forums; and provide technical support to other sites as needed
- Ensure compliance with Clariant standards, local regulations, and permit requirements while actively supporting emergency management and sustainability initiatives
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in chemical plant maintenance, operations, or engineering; batch chemical manufacturing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of complex chemical production processes, reliability and maintenance best practices, and project management methodologies
- Demonstrated ability to lead diverse teams, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization
- Experience with automation systems (DCS, SIS, PLC)
